FAQ's (Early Learning)

Parents often have many questions for us about enrolling their child in a PLASP program. Below are some of the most commonly asked questions we have received. If you do not find the answer to your question, please send us a message and we will respond promptly.

Q.    How do I find out more about your programs?
A.    The easiest thing to do is visit the location nearest you. Program Directors will be able to answer all your questions and provide you with any additional information you are looking for.

Q. What if I do not have a doctor?
A. Until you get a family doctor, write in the phone number and address of a Medical Clinic that you would use.

Q. What if I am new to the community and do not have two emergency contacts?
A. Your registration will not be confirmed until you have two emergency contacts who would be available in case of an emergency.  The two emergency contacts must have different telephone numbers, and be aware of this responsibility.

Q. Is there a discount if I have more than one child in a PLASP program?
A. Families with 3 or more children enrolled in PLASP programs qulify for a 50% discount for the child incurring the lowest program fee.

Q. Is there subsidy available?
A. Government and PLASP subsidies are available for families who qualify.  Please call the PLASP Head Office at 905-890-1711 for further information.

Q. Does my child get a lunch and snacks and if so what is offered?
A. Children in centres are served a nutritious breakfast, a healthy lunch as well as afternoon snack, all prepared on premises.   Weekly menus are posed on the parent Bulletin Board in each centre.

Q. What qualifications do staff in Centres have?
A. Staff are trained to the highest standards in working with young children and must hold a valid first aid certificate.  Staff hold ECE and are registered with the Association of Early Childhood Educators.  They are also required to complete additional courses through Sheridan College and PLASP’s training program.

Q. Do I have to pay if my child is away from the centre because of illness?
A. A refund of 50% of bi-weekly fees are given, upon written request, for 10 or more consecutive program days missed due to hospitalization or illness.  A doctor’s note is required.  Fees for all other time away from the program must be paid.

Q. How do I add or cancel a program?
A. To add a program, please speak with the Program Director at your child’s school.
To cancel from a program, please call the PLASP Head Office at 905-890-1711 and speak with a Parent Services Representative, 5 business days prior to your cancellation date.

Q. Can someone else pay my child’s fees (e.g. grandparent)?
A. Yes, fees can be paid by another person, as long as current payment procedures are followed.
