  • Before, lunch, and/or after school programs located onsite at your child's school
  • Part-time packages for families that do not require full-time/daily care
  • Healthy and nutritious snacks and meals
  • Extended hours, where available, from 7:15am to 6:15pm, Monday to Friday

PLASP employs staff that are trained to the highest standards in understanding the needs of children.
All staff are required to obtain a valid First Aid Certificate and are required to successfully complete our specifically designed school-age training program in addition to providing PLASP with a clear criminal reference check. Required training includes Positive Caregiving for Children, Setting the Stage for Successful Behaviour for School Age Children, Introduction to Leadership Development and Principles of Administration.

Our program staff are trained to work specifically with school age children. They take the time to listen and play, providing a balanced program that supports and encourages children.

Before School Program
The Before School Program operates from 7:30am and continues until school begins. Children participate in a variety of activities and enjoy a healthy breakfast, served daily.

Ratio: 1 staff to 15 children.

Lunch Program
Based on location and availability, the Lunch Program provides a healthy, nutritious lunch either two or five days a week. When lunch is provided twice per week, children bring a packed lunch to the program on the remaining days.

Children are given adequate time to enjoy their lunch in a supervised and social setting. Once they have finished their meal, they participate in a variety of planned and supervised activities, both inside and outside, depending on the weather.

Ratio: 1 staff to 15 children.

After School Programs
The After School Programs begin at school dismissal and continues until 6:00pm Children are greeted by the same staff each day, which allows a sense of stability and familiarity to develop. Program staff have prepared, in advance, fun and stimulating activities for the children to enjoy. Children also participate in planning program activities. In addition to active play, children have the opportunity to socialize with their friends and have time to do homework. Special events are planned on a regular basis, including theme days and special visitors. A substantial snack is served every day prior to 4:30pm. A typical snack includes whole grain crackers with cheese, yogurt, apple slices and milk or juice.

Ratio: 1 staff to 15 children.

10+ Club
The 10+ Club is geared specifically towards children who are between 10 and 12 years of age. Children and staff collaborate to plan and implement activities which are age appropriate, challenging and fun. Engaging and involving the children in this manner not only provides the older children with life skills such as time management and planning, but their involvment in creating their activities also captures their attention and keeps them interested.

Extended Hours
At some locations, PLASP is able to offer extended hours for Before and After School Programs where available. These programs start as early as 7:15am and end at 6:15pm. To see if your child's school offers extended hours, please use the Search For Care function, call the PLASP Head Office at 905.890.1711 or email childcare@plasp.com.

Part-time Packages
PLASP recognizes that families have different needs for care and has therefore created flexible, part-time packages. These packages are ideal for the families that do not require care every day. A single package consists of 14 visits per session. Sessions operate within the following months:

•Fall - September to December
•Winter - January to March
•Spring - April to June.

These visits are to be used within the session in which they are purchased. Unused visits are non-transferable and non-refundable. You may have more than one child use a package and may purchase additional packages during the same season.

Professional Activity (P.A.) Day Program
Children from grades 1 to 6 who participate in one or more of PLASP’s full-time programs can also register for our P. A. Day Program. Children enjoy such attractions as the Ontario Science Centre, Chuck E. Cheese, Medieval Times, bowling, movies and community centres on P.A. Day trips.

The P.A. Day Program begins at 7:30am (7:15am at selected locations) with children arriving no later than 8:30am, and operates until 6:00pm (6:15pm at selected locations). Children are picked-up and dropped off at their school.
