PLASP Annual Parent Meeting Moves to Bigger Venue to Accommodate More Parents and Staff

This year, PLASP Child Care Services will be moving its Annual Parent Meeting to the International Centre in Mississauga.

The Annual Parent Meeting is moving to the International Centre

The International Centre, located at 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga, L4V 1E8 will be the new venue for PLASP’s Annual Parent Meeting on Monday, October 26, 2015

Until most recently, PLASP hosted the Annual Parent Meeting at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga.

“We’ve had a positive and rewarding relationship with the Living Arts Centre for the past 16 years,” said Cathy Paolucci, Manager, Marketing and Communications and chair of the Annual Parent Meeting committee. “Due to the growth of PLASP – particularly in the past 5 years, we’ve had to consider a larger venue to accommodate the number of staff and parents that attend the meeting each year. We considered a number of different venues and determined that the International Centre would not only accommodate our audience size but is also centrally located for our parents and staff that will be travelling across the GTA from Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, Etobicoke, West Toronto and now, Scarborough to attend the event.”

On Monday, October 26, PLASP is anticipating 1,700 parents and staff to attend the meeting to hear keynote speaker Canadian Chef Michael Smith.

PLASP’s first annual meeting was held on March 10, 1981 in council chambers at Mississauga City Hall, a year after PLASP became incorporated. The following meeting was held at the Holiday Inn at 30 Peel Centre Drive in Bramalea. For a few years, annual meetings were held at various local hotels with meeting space large enough to accommodate those attending. In 1999, PLASP moved the Annual Parent Meeting to Hammerson Hall at the Living Arts Centre. By this time last year, Hammerson Hall was overflowing with PLASP staff and parents.

“If you look at the numbers of our very first annual meeting and compare them to our numbers today, you can see the substantial growth that PLASP has experienced over the years,” added Cathy. “The move to a larger venue to accommodate our growing organization was inevitable. We’re very excited to welcome staff and parents to our new venue to hear Chef Michael Smith speak at our 40th Anniversary Annual Parent Meeting.”

Hi Lyn Just reading on Twitter about the AGM. Hope you have a wonderful event in your new venue. I'm in the UK at the moment. Don't think I received an invite this year. Hugs Beryl Ford.

annual parent night

Annual parent night should be a wonderful time for those that are able to make it...and staff should not be told it's MANDITORY.
