Celebrating National Volunteer Week 2023 at PLASP
“Thank you” - Two simple words that anyone volunteering their time and talents deserves to hear.
At PLASP, we would like to take this opportunity during National Volunteer Week to say a special thank you to our volunteers. PLASP’s volunteer program helps to define PLASP as a community organization. At PLASP, we believe in the value of providing members of the community with learning opportunities and practical work experiences in our programs and office.

“It is a great experience to have a volunteer in our program”, says Noor Alahdab, PLASP Program Director “The children relate to Akshay and are eager to play and interact with him.”

National Volunteer Week runs from April 16th to April 22nd and reminds us to reflect on the good work that volunteers do in our community. It also provides an opportunity to thank the volunteers that we may encounter day to day.

“I would encourage families, staff and children to say thank you to our great group of PLASP volunteers”, says Wayne Edwards, VP, Human Resources. “Our Head Office volunteers are a great support to our staff and our program volunteers act as mentors, leaders and role models in PLASP programs. We’ve seen and heard so many stories of children’s faces lighting-up when volunteers walk into program on their regularly scheduled day.”

Volunteer opportunities in PLASP after school programs are available to current high school students who are interested in making a difference in the lives of children. Volunteers are always under the supervision of trained PLASP staff and are never left alone with the children. PLASP also offers volunteer opportunities at our Head Office. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at PLASP, please visit the volunteers page on our website to learn more, plus read testimonials from PLASP volunteers about their experiences.
