ABOUT

The Best Way To Extend The School Day

For many parents, the school day ends hours before their workday does. During those hours between the bell and pickup, children need a place where they can feel safe, have fun, and get moving after a long day in the classroom.

From the moment the bell rings until 6 p.m., our After School Programs provide a worry-free solution for busy families. Here, your child gets to connect with friends, choose their own activities, enjoy a nutritious snack, and take part in indoor and outdoor activities that make every afternoon so much fun that they don’t want to leave!

From creative projects and outdoor play to homework help and quiet time, our caring educators make sure every child ends their day safe and smiling.

AFTER SCHOOL, MADE BETTER

Why Children Love Our Program

From nutritious snacks and outdoor play to homework time and enrichment activities, our After School Program keeps children active, happy, and cared for until you’re ready to pick them up.

Partnering with a nutritionist, we developed our menus to follow Canada’s Food Guide.

Children are offered a nutritious afternoon snack with options like whole wheat crackers, a salad bar that may include romaine lettuce, chickpeas, pickles, parmesan cheese, and dressing.

The program features stimulating and inquiry-based activities, which children help plan and lead. Children choose their own activities to participate in. Both Indoor small-group and large-group activities are planned.

Children have time outdoors daily (weather permitting). Children can choose from a selection of outdoor sports equipment and toys, including balls, skipping ropes, chalk, hula hoops, and much more.

In addition to active play, children have the opportunity to socialize with their friends and spend time on homework.

In addition to daily activities, special interest groups will visit the programs to provide enrichment, which focus on a specific activity like Basketball, Zumba, Science, Drum Circle, and much more.

OUR HANDPICKED STAFF

Compassionate, Highly-Trained Educators

At PLASP, your child is cared for by compassionate, qualified staff who take the time to listen, play, and create a balanced program that supports and encourages their development.

All educators hold a valid Standard First Aid Certificate with Level C CPR and must successfully complete additional specialized PLASP training.

Every staff member must also pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check, ensuring the highest level of safety for the children in our care.

Depending on the program, our educators may be Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs), Ontario Certified Teachers (OCTs), professionals with Child and Youth Worker (CYW) or Child and Youth Care Practitioner (CYC) designations. This range of expertise ensures children of all ages, Kindergarten through Grade 6, receive the right support for their stage of development.

High-Quality Care at Competitive Fees

We are PLASP, a not-for-profit, charitable organization that puts children first.

We work incredibly hard to offer child care services at affordable and competitive rates, without cutting corners.

Depending on the age of your child, our programs also qualify for the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system and you may qualify for regional subsidies, both of which help families reduce the cost of child care.
