Intent

PLASP collects personal information in the regular course of its activities. Personal information is any information about an identifiable person (e.g. name, address, phone number, etc.).

The purpose of this policy is to establish rules that govern the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by PLASP in a manner that recognizes the need to balance the right of privacy of individuals with respect to their personal information with PLASP’s need to collect, use, and/or disclose that personal information in order to fulfill its charitable purposes.

Scope

This Policy applies to all PLASP Employees.

Policy

PLASP Child Care Services commits to ensuring that all personal information gathered about its customers (parents and children) and its employees and volunteers is kept confidential and is treated in a manner that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances.
Our key principles are:

Collecting and Using Information

PLASP will only collect personal information that is required to provide its services and/or is required for licensing or legal purposes. Personal employee information will only be collected to provide benefits and for payroll and performance management purposes.

When you visit PLASP’s web site, the following information is automatically collected:

  • information about your computer, including your IP address, the type of operating system and browser you use, and your computer’s location
  • what pages you visit on our site and what links you click on
  • what other sites you’ve visited recently


PLASP does not systematically collect any information about the identity of individuals searching PLASP’s website. PLASP collects the statistical information listed above from your visit to PLASP’s website in order to help PLASP:

  • develop content that responds to the interests of site visitors; and
  • evaluate PLASP’s products and services.


Obtaining Consent

When personal information is collected, PLASP will explain how it will be used and will obtain your consent to collect, use, and disclose it.

Limiting Use and Disclosure of Information

PLASP will only use your personal information for the purposes for which we have obtained your consent.
We may provide your information to other parties:

  • when we have your consent to do so; and/or
  • when we are required or permitted to do so by law.


Protecting Information

We will protect your information with appropriate procedures and security measures and dispose of it by means of shredding, or other methods, to protect the security of the information no longer required. The personal information collected by PLASP is kept and/or maintained at the head office of PLASP and each employee and volunteer of PLASP is required to agree to not share, copy, or disclose any personal information to any third party for any reason, other than as required under law, or for the purposes for which you provided your personal information to us.

Retaining Information

Your personal information is kept until the stated purpose is completed. For example, if you gave us your personal information to register your child in a PLASP program, we will keep this information until your child is no longer in the program and only for as long as it must be kept under law.

Providing Information Access and Accuracy

You will be responsible for ensuring that we have your up-to-date personal information in our records. Upon written request, and proof of identification, we will provide you with the personal information that we have on file about you.

Respecting and Responding to Privacy Concerns
