MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Are You Seeking a Rewarding Volunteer Opportunity?

At PLASP, volunteers make a real difference in the lives of children and families. Volunteers can support our After School, Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer Break, and P.A. Day programs, or contribute at the PLASP Head Office.

Volunteering with PLASP is a chance to learn, grow, and gain experience while giving back to your community. Some volunteers work directly with children, enriching programs alongside our staff, while others assist with administrative tasks at the office.

Please note: Volunteers are always supervised by PLASP staff and are never left alone with children.

PLASP’s Board of Directors includes parents and community members who guide our organization. While there are no openings at this time, vacancies are shared with families, posted on our website, and communicated through community networks.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Volunteer in PLASP Programs

Volunteering with PLASP is your chance to make a difference and gain valuable experience along the way.

Most volunteers spend time in our After School Programs once a week, joining children in activities while working alongside trained PLASP staff. You’re never left on your own, so the setting is always safe and supportive. The best part? Children look forward to seeing their volunteers each week and thrive on the extra attention they bring. This role is a great fit for secondary school students who want a meaningful way to give back.

PLASP recognizes volunteers in various ways during their time with our organization. We are excited for the launch of the Volunteer Recognition Program, which recognizes volunteers as they hit milestones by hours. More information can be found here. Volunteers are also recognized annually during National Volunteer Week in April.

BUILD YOUR SKILLS

Volunteer at Our Head Office

Looking to gain experience in a professional setting? PLASP offers office volunteer opportunities to develop valuable workplace skills. Volunteers work alongside staff in departments such as Accounting, Information Technology, and Program Services, gaining insight into how a community-focused organization operates.

LEAD WITH PURPOSE

Volunteer as a Board Member

PLASP’s governance Board of Directors is comprised of parents of children in PLASP programs and community representatives. Board members play a vital role in guiding the organization’s vision and ensuring strong governance, making a meaningful impact on the families and children we serve.

On PA Days, PLASP provides children with care from 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Children participate in arts and crafts, outdoor play, and more! If you would like to participate, speak with the Program Director two weeks in advance. Secondary school students must also have a P.A. Day to participate.

When it comes time for you to leave, please remember to give us notice and arrange to say goodbye to the children, as they will miss you. Talk about the good times you have shared, as it allows closure for you and the children.

Volunteers typically volunteer once a week between 3:30 pm and 6:00 pm in a PLASP After School Program.  We ask that you volunteer on the same day each week, as this provides consistency for the children, the parents, and the staff.

PLASP office volunteers develop their own weekly schedule.

If you are a secondary school student, you are asked to commit to volunteering for the school year (or the remainder of the school year). Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to return to volunteer with us year after year!  If you are planning on coming back to volunteer with us, please contact us by the first week of August so that we can hold your spot and day of the week.
