Our Mission

PLASP believes that parents are entitled to affordable, safe, reliable, well-managed, high-quality child care for their children.

Our Strategic Plan

The Board of Directors and Staff of PLASP Child Care Services believe that children are competent, capable, curious, and rich in potential and that every child deserves a safe, warm, and caring environment (a place where children thrive and want to be). Children are at the centre of everything we do. We are committed to fostering each child’s self-esteem and feeling of self-worth and value through positive caregiving and stimulating activities that will promote a sense of belonging, well-being, engagement, and expression.

Every child is entitled to be given the opportunity to develop personal responsibility and social skills, to learn to problem solve, and to learn about other races and cultures. Each child is recognized as a unique individual who brings their own abilities to the program and deserves to be given the encouragement and space to try new things, explore new ideas, and develop their own unique creativity. For more information, see our service model poster.

Our Core Values

Commitment to high quality

We believe in providing high-quality service through experienced, well-trained, caring, highly motivated, and engaged staff, volunteers and students on placement.

Innovation

We believe in fostering creativity and forward thinking, embracing change and striving to find win/win solutions.

Equity/Diversity/Inclusion

We believe in the involvement of all children and families, staff, volunteers, students on placement and our partners in equitable and inclusive environments.  We believe that children are competent and capable and deserve the opportunity to be active contributors to the program.

Responsibility and Accountability

We believe in a well-managed organization ensuring effective resource management.

Respect

We believe that everyone has worth and value and all children, families, staff, volunteers, and students on placement are entitled to be respected, supported, understood, and have a sense of belonging.

Care and Empathy

We believe that children deserve a safe, warm, and caring environment (a place where children thrive and want to be), in which to grow and develop to their maximum potential.  We are committed to fostering each child’s self-esteem and feeling of self-worth and value through positive caregiving.

We believe in developing and maintaining open, honest, and trusting relationships with our children and families, staff, volunteers, students on placement and community partners.

Partnerships and Community Collaboration

We believe in working collaboratively and cooperatively with the School Boards, other agencies, as well as all levels of government, to modernize child care and provide the best early learning and child care services, support, and resources to families.

Our Partners

Families

PLASP is committed to parents and families having the support of available, affordable, safe, reliable, high-quality programs for their children that allows them the peace of mind they require to go to work and be worry-free during their working day.  Parents are considered experts of their own children and are entitled to be treated with respect and be given the opportunity to engage in their child’s well-being.

Staff/Educators

PLASP is committed to hiring, training, and fairly compensating staff.  We employ qualified educators who have a positive and sensitive attitude towards children.  PLASP follows the Human Rights Code which states that all Ontarians have the right to equal treatment with respect to employment without discrimination or harassment because of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, record of offences, marital status, family status, or disability.  We believe that everyone has worth and value and all staff are entitled to be respected, supported, and treated fairly by their co-workers and supervisors.

Volunteers & Students on Placement

PLASP is committed to providing learning opportunities and practical work experience, to members of the community through the recruitment, placement, training, and recognition of volunteers and students on placement. Volunteers and students on placement augment the high quality of care and individual attention given to the children in the programs and gain valuable experience in the head office.

Community

PLASP is committed to working collaboratively and cooperatively with the School Boards, other agencies, as well as the municipal, provincial and federal governments to provide the best possible child care services to families.

Funders

PLASP is committed to working collectively with funders in the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments and collaboratively with System Service Managers to ensure high quality child care and a fiscally viable organization.
