For Children of All Abilities
At PLASP, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, cared for, and valued. Our child care programs are welcoming spaces where all children can grow, learn, and reach their full potential. We focus on building strong self-esteem in children through caring relationships and engaging activities that support their emotional, physical, social, and learning development.
Inclusive Learning for Every Child
PLASP is committed to creating inclusive classrooms where all children can succeed. We use strategies from Universal Design for Learning (UDL), which means we adapt how we teach and support children in different ways. This could include using visual aids, flexible schedules, or different types of materials to help each child learn in a way that works best for them. If a child has an Individual Support Plan (ISP), we follow that plan to provide extra support tailored to their needs.
PLASP’s Inclusion Team
Our Inclusion Team plays an important role in training staff and helping them understand how to support children with additional needs. While PLASP does not provide one-on-one support, all educators work together to make sure every child has a positive experience in our programs. The Inclusion Team also works closely with educators to create strategies that support both children and families.
Preparing Every Child for Success
Before a child begins care, we complete a Planning for Success form with families and educators. This helps us understand the child’s strengths, interests, and needs. It also allows us to prepare any special tools or supports, such as fidgets, visuals, or sensory-friendly items, before the child starts in our program. If your child needs extra support, someone from the Inclusion Team will contact you to complete this form together.
Working with Community Partners
PLASP also works closely with partners like the Ministry of Education, the City of Toronto’s Every Child Belongs program, Peel Inclusion Resource Services (PIRS), and other community organizations. These partnerships help us access extra resources such as specialized training for staff, funding for supports, and services that promote inclusion.
