Until you get a family doctor, write in the phone number and address of a walk-in medical clinic that you would use. You must also include the name of a doctor who works at that clinic, preferably one your child has seen regularly.

Your registration will not be confirmed until you have provided two emergency contacts who would be available in the event of an emergency. The two emergency contacts must have different telephone numbers and be aware of their respective responsibilities.

PLASP offers a discount to families who have three or more children registered with PLASP. A 50% discount will be applied to the child care fees of the third and subsequent child who is six years of age and older, actively participating in a school-age program.

Children decide what they would like to do in our programs. Children can choose from a variety of activities, including toys and games, arts and crafts, reading, group activities, gym, and outdoor activities. Time is provided for homework.

PLASP follows Canada’s Food Guide, and children in the Before School program are provided a nutritious breakfast such as cereal, milk, and fruit. Children in the after-school program are served a nutritious snack, including food such as sandwiches, fruit, cheese, crackers, and juice.

PLASP operates “nut-free” programs. Some children suffer severe allergic reactions to nut products. Please do not bring or send any items containing nuts or peanut products to any PLASP program. Nut and peanut products will not be served to the children for breakfast, snacks, or used in any crafts.

Our 1,500 staff members are trained to the highest standards in understanding the needs of children. PLASP’s non-discriminatory hiring practices create teams of staff from diverse backgrounds that support and build positive relationships with the children, families, and communities where our programs are located.

We take time and care when choosing our kindergarten and school-age staff, making sure that the candidates we choose are warm, nurturing, and caring people who connect well with children, families, and the community.

All PLASP school-age and kindergarten program staff hold a valid Standard First Aid Certificate with level C CPR, and a clear vulnerable sector criminal reference check. We recruit Registered Early Childhood Educators, as well as candidates with Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), Child and Youth Worker (CYW), and Child and Youth Practitioner (CYC) designations. All staff hired to work in our kindergarten and school-age programs meet the Ministry requirements under the Child Care and Early Years Act. Staff also participate in additional training courses through PLASP.
