Letter to Parents - Elementary Labour Update - Public Schools (May 8)

Please see below the notice sent on May 8th to our PLASP families with children registered in our programs in the public school boards. This notice does not impact families with children registered for programs in the catholic school boards.

Elementary Labour Update - Public Schools

Dear PLASP families,

We have been communicating with you earlier this week about the potential labour situation between the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) and public school boards. ETFO has confirmed that, starting Monday May 11, teachers will begin “work to rule” action. This means schools will remain open and all PLASP programs will operate as usual.

Monday is a P.A. Day for our students in the Peel and Dufferin Peel District School Boards, so it is not a school day for students. If your child is registered for our PA Day program, all details of the planned program will operate as usual.

As we explained in previous communication, ETFO is in a legal strike position and may take job action up to and including withdrawal of service. We will continue to communicate with you if ETFO or the school board announce any changes.

If you have questions, here’s how to get answers:

  • Speak with staff at your child’s program or connect with your Area Manager
  • Call our head office at 905-890-1711
  • Visit our website, Twitter or Facebook page

You may also wish to monitor the school board and ETFO websites for updates.

We know there has been a lot of uncertainty this week, and we hope we’ve been able to help provide information in a timely way. We will continue to keep in contact.

Enjoy a joyous Mother’s Day weekend with your family.

Thank you,
