The Wheels on the Bus
Have you ever seen your child using an object to represent something? For example, holding a banana to his/her ear and pretending to talk on the phone? Or perhaps you have seen your child use rocks and sticks as ingredients to making a soup. Pretend play or imaginative play is great for teaching a plethora of concepts such as turn taking and negotiating, language skills and problem solving to name a few. In today’s activity, we will imagine that we are driving a bus to the popular children’s song- “The Wheels on the Bus.” All you need is a paper plate to symbolize a steering wheel and if you have chair nearby, why not use it to represent a driver’s seat.
