Engaging with Your Child
Describe measuring tools and ask your child questions about the ingredients they are using. Incorporate counting by asking your child to count the ingredients they have and how many fruits it takes to fill 2 cups. If they easily count the pieces, try a larger number. If your child struggles, stick to a smaller number till they grow comfortable with counting. Ask your child to observe the different properties of each ingredient (Liquid, solid, frozen, fresh, etc.), the difference in the weight of each ingredient and what they predict will happen before we turn on the blender with all the ingredients inside. The process of preparing a meal, mixing ingredients and serving the meal is a fun bonding activity for the whole family to enjoy together. Bon Appétit!
