Shaving Cream Block Towers
Are you ready for a super fun sensory activity? This experience is a combination of children’s two most favoured games, building with blocks while experimenting with the sensory texture of shaving cream. Sensory activities attract children’s attention, allows them express their creative and get a little messy.
-

-
- Shaving cream (Mousse, hair gel, shower gel, shampoo, etc)
-
- Blocks – preferably plastic or foam for easy cleaning
-
2. Spray some shaving cream in the corner of a tray.
-
3. Put some foam blocks on the tray.
-
4. Shaving cream can be used between the blocks and/or to cover the blocks.
-
5. Be free be creative to have fun!
This messy block building activity gives children the freedom to create and explore with zero expectations of an outcome. All ideas, feelings, thoughts and creations expressed during this open-ended activity are welcome. Set-up this activity and invite your child by saying “Ooo, the shaving cream feels cold. I’m going to dip one block in it and see how it sits on it. Can you show me what you can do with this?”. The focus of this activity is for your child to enjoy the process of creating whatever their heart desires. Ask them open-ended questions such as “What did you make?” or “What does that feel like?”. They may have created a bridge with a river underneath, a tower with sparkles or a car that flies. Welcome their creations with a smile and praise their efforts for working so hard on using their imagination.
