Updated Inclement Weather Information

As we head towards the winter months, much of our region has already seen the first snowfall of this season. PLASP Childcare Services would like to take this opportunity to share updated information regarding days impacted by inclement weather.

In the event of severe weather conditions, PLASP will share information with families via email, our website, and our social media channels. Please also monitor your local radio/TV stations and your school board’s social media channels for announcements on school closures and bus cancellations.

Snow Days

If the school boards decide to close schools to students and staff due to inclement weather, PLASP's programs and Early Learning and Child Care Centres within the schools will not operate. PLASP EarlyON programs will also be closed. PLASP will inform families through email notification, as well as post information on our website and on our social media channels (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter).

Bus Cancellations

Schools will remain open to staff and students. Therefore, PLASP's Early Learning and Child Care Centres, Before and After School programs, and PLASP EarlyON programs will remain open.

P.A. Day Programs

If severe weather conditions occur on a P.A. Day, remember that PLASP's P.A. Day Programs will only open if the schools are also open. Provided the school is open, children will be able to attend the P.A. Day Program from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the school.

Holiday Programs

If severe weather occurs during any of our holiday programs, PLASP families will receive an email on closures from PLASP. Information will also be posted on the PLASP website and on social media.

Child Pick Up

If a parent of a child attending PLASP knows they are going to be late, they should please arrange for one of their emergency contacts to pick up their child from the program. They do not need to notify the Program Director if their child is being picked up by one of their registered emergency contacts. PLASP encourages families to ensure that their contact information and emergency contacts are current. Families can do so by logging into their account at www.plasp.com.

Appropriate Clothing

PLASP encourages outdoor play and in order to do so safely and enjoyably, families are asked to ensure that their child has appropriate, warm clothing during the winter months.
