September 30th, 2025: The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Tuesday, September 30th, 2025 is The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada; a time to learn about and honour Indigenous children who were taken from their families and sent to residential schools in Canada. From the 1870’s to as recently as 1996, over 150,000 First Nations, Inuit, and Métis children were separated from their homes and cultures, and experienced abuse, or never returned.
PLASP’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Manager, Alexis Dawson shares this video message in which she reflects on The Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action, plus the importance of age-appropriate conversations to better help children understand Indigenous history and contributions, and how wearing orange on September 30th is one way to show support to survivors and their families.

In our programs and centres, staff will be sharing information and taking part in activities that have been provided by the PLASP Curriculum Team in a resource guide that was shared with all PLASP staff.
PLASP encourages everyone to take time for learning that helps promote respect as we lead up to The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and beyond. Below are a few links to help you start your journey:
